El viernes pasado con motivo del Día de los Inocentes, Google presentó su «más reciente» construcción de mapas de Google, llamado Google Maps 8-bits, la versión adaptada específicamente para el Nintendo Entertainment System. Según Google, esta versión de Dragon Quest parodia de mapas vendrá en la forma de un cartucho de NES especial que puede conectarse a Internet a través de dial-up. Al parecer, esto permite que la mayor parte del trabajo pesado para que se hagan a los servidores de Google, donde los mapas se representan en forma de 8 bits «en tiempo real.» Mejor aún, incluso soporta búsquedas por voz. Naturalmente, no hay una palabra en una fecha de lanzamiento, pero en la actualidad se puede revisar la versión «beta» al visitar Google Maps en tu navegador y seleccionar «Iniciar la búsqueda».
